今月のゲストは、10月27日に都内で開催された
第9回「国際紅白歌合戦」
（The 9th International Red-White Singing Festival）
の出場者の方々です。

今回は、イタリア出身のガブリエルさんに
日本のテレビに出演することになった
きっかけについて伺いました。

初めての日本旅行で二人の女性と出会う

――So, why did you, you know, sign up for the NODOJIMAN WORLD?
（なぜ「のどじまんTHEワールド！」に応募したのですか）

Gabriel: Ah, this is a very interesting story.
（とても面白い話なのですが）

During my first travel here in Japan with my parents, I met two woman.
（両親と初めて日本を旅行しているときに、二人の女性に会いました）

And, basically what happened is that we were watching a temple.
（何があったかと言うと、私たちはお寺を見学していて）

And, me and mom just like got away because it was almost closing and my dad was left behind.
（お寺が閉まりかけていたので私と母はお寺を出たのですが、父は取り残されました）

So, my dad met first this two woman, and they tried to talk with him because they thought he got lost.
（それで、二人の女性が父が迷子になっていると思い声をかけ、父が最初にこの二人の女性と出会います）

And, after that we met them at the station because one of the two had to go to the toilet so they lost the train.
（その後、駅で再び彼女たちに会いました、なぜなら、二人のうちの一人がトイレに行っていて電車を逃したからです）

So, basically it’s kind of destiny meeting.
（ですから、基本的には運命的な出会いだったのです）

その女性から歌番組の出演を勧められ…

Gabriel: And, on that train trip, we discovered that they live in Tokyo.
（それで、電車で彼女たちが東京に住んでいることを知りました）

And, their house was like five minutes from our hotel which we would have gone there in like three days.
（また、彼女たちの家が私たちが三日後に行くホテルから5分のところだったということもわかりました）

So, during that trip we start to talk about also what we do and everything.
（そして、電車に乗っている間に何をしているか等お互いのことについて話しました）

And they understood that I like to sing and everything and they loved this TV show.
（彼女たちは私が歌うのが好きなことを知り、また、このテレビ番組が大好きだったので、）

So, they recommend me to try but of course I was a little bit scared because I didn’t know Japanese at all.
（私に挑戦するよう勧めてくれましたが、日本語が全くわからなかったのでちょっと怖いと思いました）

But, they taught me maybe you can do it because we like the way you sing.
（でも、彼女たちは、あなたの歌い方が好き、出演できるのではないか、と言ってくれたのです）

And I think… she said, I think that you’re the type of um, how to say, contestant for that TV show.
（彼女はこう言ったと思います、あなたはそのテレビ番組の出場者タイプだと思う、と）

日本の音楽が好きになり、テレビ番組に出演！

Gabriel: So, basically when I came back to Italy, I just give a look to some songs she advised me, and then I start to watch a lot of YouTubes.
（それで、イタリアに帰ると彼女がアドバイスをくれた何曲かを確認して、そしてたくさんのYouTube動画を見始めました）

And, actually I start to like Japanese music… umh, more the kind of like singer song writer music like Tokunaga Hideaki, Kohji Tamaki or like Ayaka.
（それで、実際に日本の音楽を好きになり始めました…より好きだったのは徳永英明や玉置浩二、あるいは絢香のようなシンガーソングライターの音楽です）

And, after that, I applied for this TV show and I passed and they pay everything to came here to do this show.
（その後、このテレビ番組に応募して審査に通り、日本に来て番組に出演するための全てを番組が払ってくれました）

So, it was a really great experience even though I was so nervous because it was my first time ever on television in another country representing my… of course my country.
（初めて外国のテレビ番組に自国を代表して出るということでとても緊張しましたが、本当に素晴らしい経験でした）

And, I didn’t sleep… slept all night.
（一睡もできませんでした…）

So, it was really, really not my best performance I think but I really enjoy everything about that experience and I met amazing people which I stay in contact still now.
（ですので、全然自分のベストのパフォーマンスができなかったですが、でも、この経験の全てを楽しむことができて、今でも連絡を取り合っている素晴らしい人たちと出会うことができました）
