第８回「国際紅白歌合戦」
（The 8th International Red-White Singing Festival）
への出場者の方々です。

今回は、来日して10年の看護師で、
情感たっぷりに歌ったヤレド・フェルナンデスさん
へのインタビュー（前半）です。

インドネシアで看護師をしていたヤレドさんの決断

――Would you introduce yourself?
（自己紹介してくださいますか？）

Jared: Hello, everyone.
（皆さんこんにちは）

Eh, let me introduce myself.
（自己紹介します）

My name is Jared Fernandes.
（私はヤレド・フェルナンデスです）

I’m 34 years old.
（34歳です）

Ah… I’m coming from Indonesia, 2008, in summer.
（ええと、2008年の夏にインドネシアから来ました）

I was working as a nurse in the… one of biggest hospital in Indonesia.
（当時インドネシアで一番大きな病院で看護師として働いていました）

As ah… for about four years.
（4年ほど経っていました）

Ah, but, I think it’s not too enough for me to just as a nurse in my country.
（でも、自国で看護師として働くのはもう十分だと思って）

So, I have to try something to… to develop myself, my knowledge, of course language.
（自分自身と知識を高めるため、当然語学も高めるため、何かに挑戦すべきだと考えました）

So, like Singapore, Malaysia, and also America, I tried many countries, the examination to have a work there.
（それで、シンガポール、マレーシア、そしてアメリカと、その国で働くために多くの国の試験を受けました）

合格率１％、外国人初の看護師に合格！

Jared: So, then I passed the exam, it’s called EPA, Economic Partnership Agreement, Indonesia and Japan.
（そして、EPA―インドネシアと日本の経済連携協定に基づき日本で看護師になる候補者の試験に受かりました）

I passed the exam, then I just came to Japan and doing some internship, and, learning by doing, Japanese.
（試験に受かって、日本に来てインターンシップに参加しながら日本語を勉強しました）

Just doing by myself.
（独学でした）

And 2010 I applied to have work in Niigata, ah, it’s a nurse assistant.
（そして、2010年に新潟で看護助手の仕事を見つけました）

While working, I studying about Japanese also for nurse exam, examination, for one years.
（働きながら、日本語を勉強し、1年間看護師国家試験の勉強をしました）

It’s very hardest moments in my life.
（人生の中で最もきつかったです）

But I believe myself, I can pass the exam in one years.
（でも、自分は1年で試験に合格できると信じていました）

And it’s just happened.
（そして、それが実現したのです）

In 2010, I passed the exam for the first foreigner in Japan to pass the exam.
（2010年に試験に受かったのですが、僕が初めて日本の看護師国家試験に合格した外国人でした）

――You became the first one?
（最初の合格者だったのですか？）

Jared: Yeah, from, from this program.
（はい、EPAからの合格者では初めてでした）

――Mmmm.
（すごいですね）

差別もいじめもなく、日本で楽しく働いています

Jared: And, now, now I’m working at Saitama.
（今は埼玉で働いています）

It’s a general hospital at a high care unit.
（総合病院のHCU高度治療室の仕事です）

Now about eight years.
（もう8年経ちます）

――Eight years…
（8年ですか）

Jared: I’m sorry, after I passed the exam.
（ああ、試験に受かってからですね）

Then, it’s fun working with Japanese.
（日本人と働くのは楽しいです）

They’re so fun, they’re so friendly, and they never do like bully, like discrimination, or I don’t, I never had that feeling.
（面白いし、フレンドリーだし、差別とかのいじめを絶対にしません、あるいは、私はそのようなことを一度も感じたことがありません）

So, it’s really fun.
（とにかく、とても楽しいです）
